What We Offer

Threshold Choirs honor the ancient tradition of singing at the bedsides of people who are struggling: some with living, some with dying. These choirs provide opportunities to share the sacred gifts of our voices at life’s thresholds.

The Coastside chapter is based in Montara, California. Our members come from Daly City to south of Half Moon Bay. We visit bedsides in groups of two to four singers, singing quiet, restful songs that foster a peaceful, comforting, and supportive environment. Sessions are brief, and there is no charge for our service. However, we gratefully accept donations to support our work. Although our focus is to bring comfort to the bedside, we have also been invited to sing at vigils and memorial services where appropriate.

Where We Sing

By invitation, we sing at the bedsides of people in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and residential hospices. We have sung for clients on the coast from south of Half Moon Bay to Pacifica, as well as clients in the northern Peninsula. At this time, we are singing monthly at several facilities that serve our community.

Rehearsals

Our choir welcomes singers who feel drawn to this sacred work. We rehearse every other Wednesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. At this time we alternate between one rehearsal in person and one on Zoom. Our in-person rehearsal is hybrid to include those who cannot attend.
