Who We Are
The Central Sierra Threshold Singers join the ancient practice of singing at the bedside of people who are at or near the end of their lives. We first read about Threshold Choirs in the newspaper in 2016. We were inspired to bring together singers from local community groups and churches to create our chapter. Through this serene music, our goal is to create moments of peace in times of challenge. We are not affiliated with any religious group.
What We Do
Caregivers invite us to visit at bedside, with three or four members to sing our special songs of love and kindness. They can see patients responding to our gift of song. We have singers from Sonora, Copperopolis, Groveland, Twain Harte, and Columbia, California, and can visit patients in these towns and nearby, in hospitals, assisted living places, and homes. There is no charge for our service.
How to Join
If you'd like to learn more about the group and perhaps join us, please contact us by email. We meet twice a month for rehearsals at the hospital in Sonora. The homepage of this Threshold Choir website provides information about the program as well as examples of this special music.
