This song came to me while out walking in my neighborhood one fine afternoon. Before I set out on my walk, I’d been thinking about the great Mystery, the Universal Consciousness, the One from whom we all spring and of which we are all a part. And I’d also been thinking about the principles of sound healing — about how certain vowel sounds — sacred seed syllables — have particular vibrations that affect the bodymind in particular ways. I set out on my walk with the “ah” sound very much on my mind, and the song just appeared as I walked. The “Ah” sound sustained by the low part to me represents the soul’s yearning for union with the One.

This song can be sung in two ways: 1) start with the melody all the way through the song, then add middle part and sing all the way through the song, then add the low part and sing all the way through, or 2) start by the singing the low part on “Ah” twice through just that first line, then add the melody and go all the way through the song, then add the middle part all the way through the song.
