In the Spring of 2018, Kate sent out a request for healing songs for a friend, Laurence Cole, who was about to have hip surgery. The idea was to send him songs daily for several weeks.  I had spontaneously sung the first line in the car while driving to an appointment I would possibly be late for.  The rest of the song came soon after, and at our Tallahassee chapter of Threshold Choir’s next rehearsal we worked out the arrangement, truly a group effort, with notable contributions from Laura Dunaway and Rebecca Miles.  The final line, “I have all the time that I need to be whole” was written for Laurence, and has proven to be useful for members of our group who have had, or are having, healing challenges themselves. Written for those in life’s transition is the alternative final line “I have all the time that I need to let go “.  I still sing this song while driving to appointments to calm myself down.

Lyrics

I have all the time that I need.
I have all the time that I need.
No hurry, no worry shall burden my soul.
I have all the time that I need
[to let go.]
[to be whole.]
