This phrase, which came to photographer and friend Cara Moore, electrified and thrilled me, whereupon it became a 30-verse, incredibly boring song about everything. It took 12 years, the tough-love coaching of Y. Sue Thorpe, the help of a Song Writers’ Salon, and a suggestion from Sue Rowland to bring it into singable form. Thanks!

Lyrics
1. Needed and equal, every one of us,
I’m looking at you and back at me,
Just as we are, with all our flaws and features,
Needed and equal are we.
2. Needed and equal, every size and shape,
Babies to grannies, slow or fleet,
Facile or clumsy, skin of any color,
Needed and equal are we.
3. Needed and equal, on the firing line,
Raking in millions or on the street,
Tilling the soil or locked in solitary,
Needed and equal are we.
4. Needed and equal, that’s the world I see.
How about you? Can you see it with me?
Just as we are, with all our flaws and features,
Needed and equal are we.
