If singing this with many voices, skip the breath-pause at the end of the first line, before “They can…”, and stagger breathing so as to keep continuous sound moving from “your wings are grown…” through to “wide blue sky”. If singing with just a few voices, all lines take time to breathe well before “They can…” — My thanks to the baby water ouzel with whom I shared time for a while at Herman Creek in the Columbia Wilderness.
