Kate Munger started the first Threshold Choir, the East Bay (California) chapter, on March 21, 2000. Since then, the organization has grown as singers have found each other and formed chapters in cities across North America and beyond.

New chapters are currently forming in these locations: Ajijic (Mexico), Anchorage AK, Buskirk NY, Cape Town (South Africa), Christchurch (NZ), Fresno CA, Hamilton MT, Hurleyville NY, Las Vegas NV, Louisville KY, Manhattan KS, Middletown CT, Moray (Scotland), Nehalem OR, Olympia WA, San Fernando Valley (Los Angeles CA), Tecate (Mexico), Troutdale OR, Walpole MA, Whitehorse YT (Canada), Woodbury CT, and York (UK).
