I really like down-to-earth imagery, like socks and soups and quilts and dogs and campfires, and also wanted to make a memorial-type song that was not sad. I deliberately chose similes that spoke of “warmth” without using that word until the last line.
Lyrics
Like a pair of thick socks, I pull on a memory of you so bright and happy.
Like a sip from my soup, you slide down my memory and make me full and happy.
Like an extra quilt on a cold, cold night,
Like a dog at the foot of my bed,
Like a campfire with friends singing and smiling as we share warm thoughts of you.
