The seed for this song was planted by my father’s chaplain at Dad’s bedside shortly before he died. He turned to him and said “The veil is thin Max”, a remark that stuck with me. This was my first song; I had said to a song sister in the previous year when speaking of Threshold Choir songs that I thought I had one in me. I think it was important that I said that out loud because that I think is what gave me the idea later that I could write a song based on these words. The melody was composed on guitar from a chord progression I had made up and wrote down the year before as well. All my songs to date were written during the Covid pandemic and I am looking forward to teaching them, especially this one, to my chapter in British Columbia in person.

Lyrics

The veil is thin. I delve within.
At last my heart prepares to part.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Breathe in, breathe out.

I do not fear, for high and clear,
There comes a song to help me on my way.
Breathe in, breathe out.
Breathe in, breathe out.
