“All things shall perish from under the skies.
Music alone shall live; never to die.”

(German folk song)

Who We Are

We are a group of compassionate volunteer singers living in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley (Virginia) who feel called to provide comfort care through music. When requested, we sing at the bedside of individuals in the process of dying. In groups of three or four, we sing soothing, peaceful, lullaby-like songs that we hope offer calm and comfort during tender times. We have no religious affiliation and there is no fee for our singing.

Where We Sing

We sing for patients nearing the end of life in hospice care, either in a hospital, in a care facility, or in their homes. We sing regularly for patients at the Blue Ridge Care hospice inpatient center. Visits last approximately 15 minutes. We will try our best to accommodate singing requests in the City of Winchester, and the counties of Frederick, Clarke, Warren, and northern Shenandoah.

Interested in Joining?

Most songs are three-part harmony, so you must be able to carry your own part, sing softly, and blend with other singers’ voices. Additionally, you’ll need to memorize a Threshold Choir song list and express kindness with your whole being. Bedside singing begins only when you feel ready. Rehearsals are held in Berryville, Va., every Monday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30 pm. Participation requires a membership in the Threshold Choir organization.
