Threshold Singers of Rochester

For the past eleven years, my husband and I have enjoyed our life in Rochester, NY.  Previously we lived in the Saratoga Springs, NY area – which afforded easy access to the Adirondack Mountains. 

Before that, my husband and I lived in northern NJ, where I’m originally from, and where we raised our two daughters.

I had been a hospice volunteer before moving to Rochester.  Musician friends came to visit during our first summer here.  They suggested that, between my hospice volunteering and my singing, Threshold Choir would be a great fit.  I immediately reached out to TC and learned that folks had inquired and expressed interest, so I was given their contact info and the Rochester chapter took life – 10 years ago in my living room!

I’m eternally grateful for TC and its mission.  I’m keen on adding my skills and perspectives to ensure this precious organization continues long past my own journey.  I’m aware that strategic planning is key to this success. Since founding our chapter in 2016, I have served as director of the Threshold Singers of Rochester, – engaged in all roles.  We created a leadership circle early on, so certain tasks I’ve delegated over time – more as I’ve approached our 10-year celebration!  

• Engaged in all contacts with venues at which we sing
• Repertoire selection
• Collaborative gatherings with our Ithaca, NY singing sisters over the past several years
• Summer retreats (local park); winter retreats (my home)
• Created new prospective singer documents and content for welcoming/onboarding new members
• Have communicated our message into the broader Rochester community

I’m also a passionate cook; I work out almost daily in classes at the local JCC; I’m an active member of my temple book group; I’ve engaged with local initiatives countering ageism; and I LOVE my 3 grandchildren who live locally!
