What We Offer
Threshold Choirs honor the ancient tradition of singing at the bedsides of people who are struggling: some with living, some with dying. These choirs provide opportunities to share the sacred gifts of our voices at life's thresholds.
The Coastside chapter is based in Montara, California. We visit bedsides in groups of two to four singers, singing quiet, restful songs that foster a peaceful, comforting, and supportive environment. Sessions are brief, and there is no charge for our service. However, we gratefully accept donations to support our work. Although our focus is to bring comfort to the bedside, we have also been invited to sing at vigils and memorial services where appropriate.
Where We Sing
By invitation, we sing at the bedsides of people in homes, hospitals, nursing homes, and residential hospices. We have sung for clients on the coast from Half Moon Bay to Pacifica, as well as clients in South San Francisco and San Bruno. We have sung at Seton Hospital in Daly City, Seton Coastside skilled nursing facility, and at the Motherhouse for the Sisters of the Presentation in San Francisco, a residential facility that provides special care for elderly and infirm nuns of this order.
Our choir welcomes singers who feel drawn to this sacred work. We rehearse on the second and fourth Wednesday evenings of each month.
