Greater Yellowstone Threshold Singers
We are all just walking each other home. ~ Ram Dass
Who We Are
The Greater Yellowstone Threshold Singers was formed in Bozeman, Montana in January 2019, and we are honored to serve the Gallatin Valley. We are a chapter of the Threshold Choir, an international organization that honors the ancient tradition of singing at the bedside of people who are at the thresholds of living and dying.
Our singers bring a calm presence, lullaby voices, and simple, compassionate songs that can soothe and reassure the song recipient, as well as friends and caregivers. When invited, we come as two or three singers to a bedside to offer soft, restful harmonies for short periods of time.
Every Threshold Singer undergoes careful training in how to be present with individuals and families at the end of life. We sing in private homes and in assisted living and other care facilities, including hospitals. Threshold Singers come only to sing. A caregiver must always be nearby. We do not touch or assist song recipients in any way.
We honor all spiritual paths and have no religious affiliation. Our singing is a gift given freely; there is no charge for our services.
Sing With Us
We welcome new members to our choir. Although we do not require auditions, there are several requirements to consider as you decide whether our group is a good fit, including:
- Be able to carry a tune
- Be able to hold your part while others sing harmony
- Be able to sing softly and blend your voice with others
- Be able to communicate kindness with your voice
- Be willing to use self-monitoring and accept peer feedback as we work together to bring the sweetest, most blended, and graceful sound possible to our precious clients
At our rehearsals, we build our repertoire of songs, reflect on the service we provide, and get to know each other better. We rehearse once a week for an hour and a half. Please contact us to verify our rehearsal location and times.
All participants must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
