Lower Hudson Valley Threshold Singers is building our community of singers to bring the gift of song to bedsides in our beautiful valley. Like other Threshold Choirs, we honor the ancient tradition of singing softly at bedsides for people who are ill or dying and give the gift of comforting songs at the most challenging stage of life. We consider it to be an honor and a privilege to offer this gift of song.

The Hudson Valley chapter is led by Susan Graves and Cat Guthrie. Susan is one of the founding members of Threshold Choir since it began on March 21, 2000, in Northern California.  She brings her years of involvement with the Threshold Choir community and experience at bedsides. Susan helped build the NYC chapter that now volunteers at Memorial Sloan Kettering, Visiting Nurse Service Hospice, and MJHS Beth Israel Hospice. Susan recently moved to the Hudson Valley and has recruited a wonderful music director and friend, Cat Guthrie, who brings her vast experience as a choir director of the Dream Choir in Garrison and the People’s Choir in Beacon, as well as a community Kirtan called BlisSing. Cat is also the founder of Harmony & Co, bringing harmony to the workplace, literally. Susan and Cat feel privileged to offer their time and passion to build this Threshold Choir community.

We ask that our singers be able to sing softly, blend, carry a tune, and hold their parts. Most importantly, we ask that our singers be able to communicate grace and kindness with their voices.
